Nope. It’s all about Jews (who own everything in Ukraine while less than 1% of the population) and their long standing ethnic hatred of Russia over 150 year old stories of pograms, most of which is complete mythology. It’s Jews all the way down in America and Ukraine.

" . . . Ukraine that has reanimated the American elite’s belief in their ability to determine outcomes abroad".

True in the anodyne sense that this is a form of Democratism. Nothing anodyne about the US Power Elite.

______

As for The Ukraine and this Proxy War over the lives of the poor Ukrainians to take down the Russian State and pillage it's resources, the two most commonly advanced reasons, but then there's a third - arresting China's massive infrastructure One Belt Road and Made in China 2025, that had The Ukraine as a major rail link for China's industrial outputs to supply Western European markets.

Washington says No.

But for Washington, One Great Game Too Many. Russia determines the outcomes.

I worship at a church whose mission is to do good deeds instead of save souls. It’s a place where we go out into the community and help people and hope God’s Grace is reflected in what we do. We hope our good deeds are seen by unbelievers and encourages them to join with such worthy, helpful servants.

I like that approach for nation building too. The US should be the shining city on the hill, not to be breached but to be copied, emulated. But no one in DC cares what I think.

There are boundless failures of the US liberal diplomatic core and intellectuals.

However, to portray assisting Ukraine as an imperial project is rich in irony, given Russia's naked attempt at a landgrab.

The "fighting Russia to the last Ukrainian" meme misses the agency of Ukrainians. They don't want to submit to Russia and they don't want to abandon territory and people to Russia.

Why not? Well, the Putin regime has made the why very easy to understand.

As for Nordstream, I wouldn't put too much stock in that Hersh piece, lacking evidence as it is.

So if Americans for once assist a worthy cause, good on them!

Perhaps the mistake of America's entire post-WWII imperial effort is the failure to properly comprehend the lack of susceptibility to democracy and freedom of certain non-White populations with a long history of authoritarian rule by kings and religions. In the Arab countries, and much of Asia and Africa, Western political sensibilities are unnatural.
